Branxholm Shuttle
The perfect ride for your mountain biking debut. We shuttle you to Branxholm so you can ride the easy flowing Valley Ponds trail all the way back to Derby.
- Ride: 9km (approx. 1.5 -2 hours)

Our long awaited green rated descent shuttle experience is coming! Bookings now open for the 23/24 season.
With a descent of super fun and flow, ideal for confident beginner and novice riders. Don’t forget the kids, this should make for awesome MTB fun times!

YOUTH & KIDS BIKES
Stumpjumper 27.5 ST
We have the Specialized Stumpjumper ST 27.5″ in extra small and small sizes to suit smaller riders. It’s perfect for Blue Derby’s beginner and intermediate level flow trails and adventure rides. The build encourages confidence with better handling capabilities courtesy of the smaller 27.5″ wheels.
Riprock 20 and 24
With the kids Riprock 24″ and 20″ range, we have the whole family covered for an awesome MTB experience at Blue Derby. These fun and stable bikes come with wide tyres for extra grip as your little shredder takes on the trails.
Vertigo MTB Easy Green bikes
The beginner bikes are to be ridden on the beginner / green trails only. They are suited to Branxholm Shuttle and Hazy Days shuttle.
There are many loops in Derby which are green and suitable for beginner bikes from which you can access from town and do not need a shuttle. Discuss this with our Derby crew for suggestions on more trails options.

FAQ's
Our Beginner Bundles! – Great bikes and we’ll get you started on easy green mountain bike trail with shuttle options to Branxholm for the Valley Ponds trail, or to Hazy Days, the all new green trail that is mostly descending.
Helmets are included with your hire bike. Wear ride suitable clothing and flat, soft soled sports shoes. Gloves and back pack with water and snacks recommended. Sunscreen and a small first aid kit is also a good idea.
Come into the Vertigo shop to get all set up. The Branxholm shuttle departs at 10am so give us at least 30 minutes prior to get you on your bike as it may be busy.
Vertigo hire bikes are to be collected from the Vertigo MTB Shop located at 66 Main St Derby. Bikes are to be returned back to the Vertigo Shop by 4:00pm on final day of your hire period. Additional late return fees apply to returns after this time.
Vertigo can also store your hire bikes overnight. Just drop them into the shop at the end of the day and collect them the following morning.
No, just our shuttle bus to Branxholm. All other riding can be accessed from the town.
Not if you are staying in Derby and within riding distance and there is secure bike storage area, you may keep it until your last day of hire when it will be required to be returned by 4pm. However, If you are staying further away and can’t ride it there, please return it before we close and we will store it for you for you to collect the following day.

This is the trickiest question to answer. Best to ride together on trail that’s at everyones level. Experienced riders can join in on the beginner Branxholm shuttle departing at 10am and still have time to peel off and jump on our intermediate level Black Stump afternoon session. These are both available via our main booking page.
Other trails which may be good to ride, depending on ability are: Lake Derby, Rusty Crusty to Derby Tunnel, Route 1 onto Turbo Chook to Derby Tunnel. These can be found on Trail forks and Blue Derby app.
